Not having read the previous books in this series I was unsure of who the Westerly's were. In no way has that affected this story - it definitely can be read as a standalone and be thoroughly enjoyed. Ms Cardello does give little insights into the family make-up, enough to understand what has occurred previously. This one is the story of Eric Westerly and Sage Revere.

I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Eric is an actor recently out of rehab, who has ditched his opulent lifestyle and has commenced living among those less fortunate than himself. His is a broken man, who has very strong trust issues with women, for very understandable reasons. That begins to alter after he meets Sage, a young woman who makes it her mission in life to help people. How does she do this? With plants of course!!! Both have families that they would rather forget, but who seem to come out of the woodwork when least expected.

Once Eric (using his alter ego) and Sage meet and begin to form a friendship, emotions start to run a bit rampant. Sage sees that Eric is hiding some form of pain, but is unable to work out what it is, and Eric is wishing he could tell Sage the truth about himself. An interfering grandmother, an over protective BFF and an employee who is more a friend, all make this a memorable story.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and will definitely go back and read the others. A recommended read.

Ruth takes damaged people and gives them hope and a clear path to happiness. Her insightful interchanges between characters moves Ruth’s books to number 1 place on my reading list!
I have enjoyed this series and could not see how Eric's story would work. It was so good. The new characters are interesting. Getting an update an the family alone was worth the read. A very enjoyable book.
I allegations reading this Cardello book. It seemed so unlike a Ruth Cardello story. I kept going and it drew me in more and more until I was hooked and anxious to know more, feel more, connect more. I love this story.
I fell in love with Eric and Sage!

If you're looking for the unfit couple, the this story is for you. No one is perfect and we all have our flaws, but true love finds everyone.

I think this one is my favorite in this series and I can't wait for the next one. They only get better.

Sage is a free spirit with a positive outlook and alway looking for ways to help people. Eric is a famous actor feeling lost and trying to find himself while using an alter ego called Walter. They meet and soon find themselves enjoying spending time together.
I think this is the best book in the series so far, I really liked Sage, and I also liked Eric (most of the time). Of course I loved Reggie and his family, their love for Eric and how they helped him anyway they can.
This book is not that great. I did not like the main characters of the book. The storyline was too far fetched for even escape reading. Also cluttered down with too many people from past books. Major character flaws glossed over by if you just be nice it doesn’t matter how mean and cruel someone is to you. I honestly believe this book has such high rating due to free copies given out for reviews. Also there were parts that needed for editing. One spot I noticed a character was being referred to by the wrong name.
Tardigrades, also known as "water bears," are microscopic animals capable of withstanding some of the most severe environmental conditions. Classified as "extremophiles," they can survive freezing, total dehydration, radiation, and even the vacuum of space.

Reading through Eric and Sage's story, I get it -- no matter what life lobs at us, we learn to roll with the punches. We adapt to whatever circumstance life throws at us, we grow from it, we thrive. We survive. To do otherwise means we doubt ourselves, our own strength, the good in everything we see.

That, for me, was Eric and Sage's story. From battling adversity from within -- Delinda and the whole family, Sage's parents -- from battling demons of self-doubt, Eric and Sage were the calm to each other's storms.

They were each other's water bear.

And that, my dear readers, is a Ruth Cardello creation for you.
