I will tell you I believe that Joey Hill writes the most beautiful erotic words. They make me feel and connect with every character. She is by far one of my favorite authors.

This book was one of my favorites by this author. I wish this book would be made into a movie. It was beautifully written. I often go back and read over Peter's confession to Dana about how he loved her the night they met and he knows she is the one for him. I was glad he was willing to resigned for her and declaring that he now serve the military by taking care of her. I love the bdsm storyline of course because I really love reading those kind of books but I am a sucker for a love story written really well with supportive characters from other books merge together to deepen the book's significance. I am truly a fan of this author!!!! She rocks!!
I always find myself trying to open a review of one of Ms. Hill's books with something like, "the most emotional ride"...but then I realize her tales are all deeply emotional rides, one way or another.

Peter stands out to me, because he embodies "Honour" in every way in his love for his country, for his comrades-in-arms, for his Brother Knights, and for his woman...irrespective of what life,or more accurately, war, has handed her. He is an almost quiet Dom, but utterly unmovable in his determination to make Dana see her self worth, and her worth to him...to them. He is relentless, but never overbearing or unlikable, and that is because he is truly a good soul, if an iron-willed soul.

Dana is not a self pitying whiner. She could have been, but despite her physical trauma and the life-long effects thereof, she wants what this man is offering. What she doesn't want is to be dependent. Her moments of withdrawal are realistic, understandable, and make her determination to kick ass like the old days once she buys into Peter's offer, the hallmark of her true character. She is one of the strongest submissives...physically, mentally and emotionally...that I have ever read.

Together Peter and Dana enhance one another's lives. Ms. Hill's H/h never "complete" one another...that concept irritates me If you need someone to "complete" you, you are neither a character, nor a person I can respect. What Peter and Dana do, is enhance one another, completely.

As always, Ms. Hill's characters and their relationships lead the way. Their lives, their lifestyles, and the "stuff" each brings to the story are the enhancements. Peter and Dana are another fine example of the "Hill-approach" of two people making it work together...their way. The story is emotional, it is, at times, quite intense, and it is utterly satisfying in that Ms. Hill's method of getting to the ubiquitous HEA, is utterly believable.
